DDL staying in character like a pro. This man is rediculously talented.
Milliways
I haven’t actually seen this yet, and from all I’ve heard it’s not that great, but I just had to point out…
RTD is a fuckwit.
I cannot stand him anymore. He killed Torchwood with Children Of Earth and now it seems he’s doing the same with Doctor Who.
Isnt he leaving next season?
Yeah, he’s already gone.
I actually kind of liked Waters of Mars.. The Doctor isn’t perfect, and he makes mistakes. Even with all the power he has, he’s still human (in a sense). That’s what his companions were always there for, to keep him from drifting into morally ambiguous areas.. but now that he is alone, there’s no one to stop him. It makes sense. Granted, it is a little out there, how he went against everything he stood for for the entire show, but idk, it still kind of makes sense in my mind. And it makes him a much more 3-dimensional character. RTD isn’t ruining him.. yet.
I still hate RTD for ruining Torchwood though.
I’m of an opposite opinion. I think his choices in Waters of Mars were fine and in character. He’s a time lord and knows his responsiblity to maintaining history, but he is also compassionate and wants to do whatever he can to save people. I think the direction was kind’ve bad. His freakout at the end should’ve been more understated, guilty, regretful, bitter even. The walking across Mars (in flames, because there is air on Mars) was drawn out to the point where i was going “go back already! spare us!” and the whole thing with website close-ups “bam, BAM” just got to be halarious.
But I thought the issues it brought up with the Doctor were legitimate. After all, most the the ‘rules’ timelords established were just within the society so they don’t get over powerful. It makes sense to have him lapse occasionally now that he doesn’t have supervision. I think this is a good set-up, particularly for the master who was known from pervious incarnations to break the rules timelords set in place.
There Will Be Blood deleted scene
….And I jizzed in my pants.
Irena Sendler
1910-2008
A 98 year-old German woman named Irena Sendler recently died. During WWII, Irena worked in the Warsaw Ghetto as a plumbing/sewer specialist. Irena smuggled Jewish children out; infants in the bottom of the tool box she carried and older children in a burlap sack she carried in the back of her truck. She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers wanted nothing to do with the dog, and the barking covered the kids’ and infants’ noises. Irena managed to smuggle out and save 2500 children. She eventually was caught, and the Nazis broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely. Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out and kept them in a glass jar buried under a tree in her backyard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived and reunited some of the families. Most had been killed. She helped those children get placement into foster family homes or adopted.
Last year Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected. Al Gore won - for a slide show on Global Warming.
